To be honest, back in 2020, when we first started Owl’s Kitchen 欧⽒厨房, it wasn’t because we are so good at business and had a very great idea. It happened because of a pure coincident and with the intention to help.
I remember, it was during the peak of pandemic when one of my friend (Kent ) called and asked for help. His mother, who was suffering from 4th stage cancer is facing a challenge to cook for the family due to her sickness. You know, mothers being mothers. Irregardless of how old their children is, in her heart, they are just a baby forever. Despite her not being well, she is constantly worried of the well being of her family. Who is gonna cook for them? What are they going to eat? N so on..
And so the “kepo” me said, “ Would you like me to help?” I’m cooking for myself daily. If you don’t mind, I can cook extra for your family too! Nothing special, no luxury food but just typical homecooked meals ya”. Because, to me, cooking for another additional few pax makes not big difference anyway. Plus, I really enjoy cooking. My way to de-stress. Haha So I cooked for them for a good few months and unfortunately during that time, Kent’s mum’s health deteriorates.
Her reply surprised me further. She said, “ Daphne, you will never understand. This favour may seems small to you. But in the point of view of a mother, it is one of the biggest blessing. Because by helping me in this manner, you have lift up a big burden off my shoulder and I can have a peace of mind everyday, knowing that my family’s meal is well taken care of.”
That conversation brought me immense joy, and it made us think, “What if we could help not just one mother, but a thousand in Kuala Lumpur, to alleviate their burdens and bring them peace of mind?” And that’s how Owl’s Kitchen 欧⽒厨房 truly began.
What started as helping one mother three years ago has now evolved into a mission to assist many more mothers in Kuala Lumpur, allowing them the peace of mind to focus on other important tasks and spend quality time with their loved ones.
P.S. Curious about our friend Kent? We cofounded this company in 2020 as friends and are now set to tie the knot in 2024.
P/s 2 : This is a true story, although sometimes I felt it sounded abit like a fairy tale! Hahaha
Yours Sincerely,
